Boxing Day Crowds Eaton Centre

A time-lapse of Boxing Day crowds at the Eaton Centre

Although retailers report that most Toronto malls have been jam-packed over the last few days, the Eaton Centre tends to serve as the litmus test for the general busyness of Boxing Day in Toronto. Whether it's on account of its central location or the various elevations from which photographers can capture the action below, the city's downtown shopping centre serves as the perfect venue by which to judge the relative "madness" of the day.

For whatever reason, I haven't seen too many photographs of the action during the last few days, but I might have come across something even better. Tyson Williams has put together a cool time-lapse sequence of the crowds at the Eaton Centre on the 26th. To my eye, it doesn't look like it was ridiculously busy, but it's important to factor in the degree to which these photo montages speed up time. With everyone moving so fast, the shopping experience appears less frustrating then I'm sure it actually was.

But, forgetting evaluations of the size of the crowd, one thing's for sure: if you like these sorts of Gurskyesque images, the sequence below will suit your fancy. Check it out.
