Morning Brew: Arrests made in Kenneth Mark Murder Case, Toronto 18 Ringleader Is Sorry, New TTC Subway Trains Delayed, Rash of Fatal Traffic Accidents, Botched Home Invasion

What's happening in the GTA (and sometimes beyond):

Honest Ed's was spared from devastation last night after a fire in a display window was contained and extinguished quickly. It would have been a shame to lose a landmark like Ed's. Kudos to quick acting firefighters!

Police have made arrests in the murder of anti-gang activist Kenneth Mark. One man and one male youth are in custody and a third (also a male youth) is being sought. The victim's family believes that Mark's murder is connected to a previous (pellet) gun shooting, but police have yet to corroborate the link.

New TTC subway trains are going to be somewhat delayed in roll-out because the company that was to manufacture doors for them went belly up. I'm looking forward to doing away with the old and riding the new Toronto Rocket.

The ringleader of the "Toronto 18" has expressed remorse and apologized for wanting to commit mass murder by blowing up trucks in various parts of the city. Apology not accepted.

Toronto Police are warning that drivers aren't paying proper attention on out roads, and the results are grave. This week alone, we've seen far too many fatal car accidents in the GTA, many involving pedestrians getting run over. In this "rush-rush world with tunnel vision and tunnel thoughts" the problem seems to be worsening.

And a couple of Ajax teens are in custody after a botched home invasion near O'Connor and Woodbine. After pistol-whipping the residents, and apparently accidentally firing a shot, the suspects got spooked and tried to flee in a taxi cab.
