Toronto Photo Essay: Peaceful Protest

Photographs and writing by guest contributor Scott Snider.

Hundreds of people marched down University Avenue in Toronto on Saturday afternoon to a large protest in front of the American embassy. The rally, which was organized primarily via Facebook, was against Kosovo's self-declared independence. This was an extremely well-organized demonstration, and the participants were well-behaved.

The demonstration included several stops along the way, much to the benefit of a couple of dozen photographers and videographers who were documenting the march.

Toronto police, mostly on bikes, accompanied the peaceful group along the route while many others waited in reserve.
