Lakeview Generating Power Plant Remnants

Lakeview Generating Station: Remnants

Way back on June 12th 2006, the "Four Sisters" stacks at Mississauga's Lakeview Generating Station were brought down in a controlled demolition.

More than one year later, in June of 2007, the remaining main structure was blasted to bits.

I passed by the area today and was surprised to see that a large amount of structure and debris still occupies the land, and it's a major eyesore. The mess is in plain view from both Lakefront Promenade Park and Lakeview Park.

Yes, the plant was montrous in size. But does it usually take this long to clear a site?

Click and scroll across to see this panoramic photograph much LARGER. Note the sedan at the far right end of the site, which is dwarfed by the building.
