Authentic Poutine, on a Shoestring

For about the same cost as parking downtown, or the cost of a couple of beers at the bar, I can get myself all the way to Montreal. That's right - this summer, authentic poutine is just a few bucks away.

Coach Canada is making an attempt to revolutionize bus travel in Southwestern Ontario and Quebec this summer by offering super affordable one-way tickets to and from Montreal. I've seen the posters are all over the TTC, and more than one friend has mentioned it to me for good reason - it's dirt cheap.

While the touted $10 tickets are harder to come by (most have already been scooped up, apparently) there are some really good deals to be had, especially if you travel on weekdays. I just did a quick search and got a return trip in mid-June for a measly $31.11, taxes in!

I think I may take a few days off this summer and go play in Montreal. J'ai besoin d'une raison de pratiquer mon franรงais.

If you decide to do the same, be sure to check out our Freshdaily sister site, midnightpoutine.ca to learn what's cool and happening out there. Pizza Poutine? Roller Derby League? There's definitely plenty of cool stuff to check out.
